Erin Watson

Bachelor of Arts, University of New Hampshire
M.Ed. Lesley College
When I was younger, my grandfather always told me, "You should become a teacher." I scoffed at this idea, seeing myself doing something much more glamorous. After graduating from college with an English major, I couldn't find the right job. I worked in public relations and retail, neither of which were glamorous or very rewarding. I quit my job one day with nothing on the horizon. I became a substitute teacher, and realizing that my grandfather had perhaps been right all along, I frantically applied to graduate school and completed my degree. I have never regretted the decision.
I have been teaching at Wheelock for 27 years. I am married with 2 children of my own... Timothy (23) and Caroline (21), a college senior. Mr. Watson and I live in Wrentham. In my free time I love to READ, walk my dog Finnegan, and I belong to a book club.
I really enjoy my time in the classroom. Every year, every day is different... each with its own set of challenges and laughs with my students. And I have come to find out there is actually glamour in teaching! Each year I dress up as any number of things to keep my third graders' attention!
I definitely agree with your grandfather. You were born to be a teacher. I know that because I am a student in your class. You make learning fun in many different ways. I bet if some second graders were reading about you they would know right away that you are the teacher they want.
