This afternoon we did a combination of math paper and pencil activities and a game called Close to 100. Students first worked on looking at subtraction problems and deciding if they needed to trade a ten for 10 ones. Other problems did not involve trading. When they finished, they paired up and played Close to 100 using digit cards. We have been working a strategy called Make 90, Make 10 to help us get close to 100.
